Last year, foreign tourists who came to Albania spent 4.9 billion euros. On average, each tourist spent 426.8 euros. On the other hand, Albanians who spent their holidays abroad spent 2.7 billion euros. On average, each of them spent 342 euros.
Data from the Ministry of Tourism and Environment shows that 11.7 million foreign holidaymakers visited the country last year, up from 10.1 million in 2023. The increase is estimated at 1.6 million or 15.8 percent. The same is expected to happen this year.
During these 12 months, the total number of overnight stays in hotels, guesthouses and daily rental apartments is expected to reach over 70 million from less than 29 million, which has been the average in recent years.
After a good reputation in 2023, accompanied by the curiosity that continued during the past year, Albania is expected to receive up to 15 million foreign tourists in the next 12 months. Learning from the mistakes of the past, guided by the experience of successful countries, the country is currently changing its approach to tourism, aiming more for money than for numbers of foreigners.
