Almost 4 million euros for one week! That's how much money the Albanian Electricity Corporation spent to buy energy for the period 23-29 December. In total, 33,600 megawatts/hour of electricity were provided at an average price of 118.5 euros.
Due to the high demand that many European countries are having on the eve of the end of the year, data from the Hungarian stock exchange HUPX show that, although fluctuating, the price of electricity is increasing. From less than 87 euros on Saturday, a megawatt-hour of electricity cost over 100 euros on Monday.
The lack of rain during the fall and in the first days of December reduced the water reserve in the Cascade of Drin to 1,272 cubic meters per second. Compared to December of the previous year, the water reserve has shrunk by 10 percent, but still remains above multi-year averages, writes A2.
This year has not been very good in terms of electricity production. The data from the Energy Regulatory Authority show that in the period January-October it was produced. about 6.36 million megawatts/hour of energy or 0.74 million megawatts/hours of energy less than the 10-month period of last year when about 7.1 million megawatts/hours were produced.
The situation in the water sector is expected to change with the rains that have started, returning the Albanian Electricity Corporation to exports. (A2 Televizion)
