The government has changed this year's budget for the third time, distributing 6.3 billion in support for the elderly.
"The Council of Ministers, in a special meeting yesterday, approved the Normative Act, for some changes in the State Budget for 2024. The Ministry of Finance proposed some measures, after a careful analysis of the progress of the economy and fiscal indicators for the period January November 2024. On this eve of the end of the year, all our attention goes to support the most needy strata, mainly pensioners and low-income families". said the Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj.
From this year's budget, 2.2 billion ALL will also be distributed to some of the most vulnerable social categories.
"Specifically, the beneficiaries of the bonus of 15,000 lek will be all families that are treated with Economic Assistance, Persons with Disabilities (PWD), as well as their guardians", added Malaj.
Farmers and local government institutions also benefit from the changes in the budget.
"With an additional fund in the amount of 1.4 billion ALL, we will support farmers, ensuring continuous investment for one of the most priority sectors of the economy, agriculture. We will also allocate an additional fund of about 1.6 billion lek to support the municipalities for the repayment of arrears, as well as to improve the provision of public services to citizens", the minister underlined.
The government argues the changes in the budget with the fact that more money is coming into the state coffers than even the most optimistic forecasts. (A2 Televizion)
