Albania is exchanging fewer goods with Turkey this year. The data from the Institute of Statistics show that during the months of January-October, products worth 688.87 million euros were purchased.

Compared to the same period a year ago, imports decreased by around 233 million euros or 25.3 percent.

A similar trend results in the other direction, that of exports. In the span of 10 months, goods worth 43.2 million euros were exported, from over 51 million a year ago.

Despite the decline of both indicators, Albania deepened the trade deficit, i.e. the ratio between imports and exports with Turkey in the period of January-October. The indicator is estimated at 645.5 million euros less goods bought and sold with Turkey.

Although fluctuating, Turkish investments in the country continue to grow. Data from the Bank of Albania show that in the first half of the year, Turkish companies brought capital worth over 55 million euros to the country.

The Government of Albania considers Turkey as a strategic ally also in the economic field, especially in terms of trade and investments. (A2 Televizion)
