9 million euros are estimated monthly losses of the fashion sector as a result of the direct impact of the weakening of the exchange rate, mainly of the European currency. The Pro-Export Albania Association stated that many businesses have closed and others have reduced production lines.
"Every day we have a loss of about 50 employees who leave the work system in our country. We are losing our competitiveness compared to the Balkan countries. The manufacturing businesses of the sector have already started to reduce their production lines and some others have started to close their businesses, as the costs until waiting for the situation to change are high and this has led to today that the businesses increase the debt they have with DPT- n and second-level banks", informs the Pro-Export Albania Association.
The Institute of Statistics reports a drop in the value of exports by 47.4 million euros in 10 months, while the association says that the losses are even greater. In a letter addressed to the Ministry of Finance and Entrepreneurship, in addition to the request for dialogue, the sector says that the package that supports manufacturing should also be approved.
"The manufacturing package has been in the drawers of the Ministry of Finance for over 3 years, there is no reaction whatsoever".
"What we have calculated is 150 euro loss per employee, or 9 million euro loss per month in the sector."
The exchange rate, the increase in costs, the pronounced lack of liquidity, but also the depreciation of the production plants are among the problems of the sector, which accounts for over 38% of Made in Albania exports and has over 75,000 employees. (A2 Televizion)
