Applications for farmers to benefit from the national agricultural scheme close at midnight on Friday.
A total of around 4.4 billion lek will be distributed to the agricultural sector, a fund that is expected to increase further this year, if there are requests from farmers and livestock breeders. A formula that the government followed last year.
But how many applications have there been so far?
There are over 66 thousand applications made so far, but the expectation is that this year the number will be around 67 thousand by the end of the process, the same as last year. It is learned that the largest number of applications are from farmers in the regions of Fier, Korça, Berat and Elbasan.
But how much funding does an average farmer receive to even understand the assistance the government provides to the agricultural sector?
We refer to the initial fund of 4.4 billion lek, for about 67 thousand applicants, it comes to over 65 thousand lek per farmer or 660 euros. But let us emphasize that the fund to assist farmers can increase during the year, based on requests, as happened in 2024, which was estimated at a total of 5.2 billion lek. In this case, the aid would increase to over 770 euros per farmer.
But the national scheme in agriculture is not the only program to assist this sector.
This is because farmers and livestock keepers can also benefit from the sovereign loan guarantee or the soft loan program.
