Global Money Week 2025 kicked off this Monday. Under the slogan "Follow wisely, prosperity in the future", this year's theme will once again be protection from criminals and online account theft, which are increasing along with technological development.

Is it better to know or to have? This question, which seems like a pun often asked in childhood, has been answered by some of the richest people in today's capitalist world.

“The best investment you can make is in yourself... The more you learn, the more you will earn.” is the common denominator of agreement among American billionaires Warren Buffett, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg or Larry Ellison. Based on the philosophy “Money makes the world go round”, Albania is also trying to become part of the global map of “financially educated” populations.

"Global Money Week, organized worldwide by OECD-INFE, aims to help children and young people develop a sound financial mindset. This year's theme, "Think before you follow, wise money tomorrow", is a call for reflection and a critical approach to sources of financial information, given the great influence of social networks and technology on young people's financial decision-making."

But today's capitalist world offers not only opportunities, but also dangers. Fraud is one of them.

"An essential aspect of financial education is also the ability to distinguish reliable information from false information. History shows us numerous cases where the lack of accurate information and financial fraud have caused significant losses for citizens."

In an effort to explain the importance of financial education in order to use money wisely, Governor Sejko called for more efforts in terms of cultivating knowledge.

"The knowledge you gain today can be the foundation of your security and success tomorrow. Albania's financial future begins with the decisions we make today, and you, the young people, are its main protagonists."

From the next academic year, financial education may be included as a subject in primary education in schools across the country. (A2 Televizion)
