With more flights, more passengers. The year has not yet ended, while at the Mother Teresa International Airport, Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku counted the 10 millionth passenger.
"Celebrating the 10 millionth passenger today has gone through a difficult path, above all a path full of doubts, but also for all the others who have used it for political narrative. Today, a moment of reflection because we are not driven by complacency. Today, all our predictions have been exceeded. Now, we have to work hard, since in 2025, we have committed to having more than 12 million passengers at this airport.
About 11 million tourists have visited Albania by air, land and sea. Meanwhile, Vlora airport, according to the deputy prime minister, will be a great help in increasing tourists and the country's economy.
Next year we expect the opening of the Vlora airport, which will be in full service to the citizens, offering better prices for tickets, more flight destinations and more airlines in our country", said minister Balluku.
For the increase in the number of passengers and the performance in this direction of Albania, evaluations have also been made by the aviation association in Europe.
"It makes Tirana airport one of the star airports. Important for the airport itself for the country, the economy and the tourism sector, while we know that this leads to expanded air connections", said Olivier Jankovec, president of the European Aviation Association.
“TIA is committed to investing to improve the passenger experience, support the tourism sector, adding new routes and offering the lowest fares in the region. TIA has applied to install 4.9 million photovoltaic panels. 10 million passengers means that we connect people, regions, cultures, contribute to the country's economy", said Piervittorio Farabbi, director of operations, Tirana International Airport.
For the year 2024, 10 million passengers traveled on over 62 thousand flights. (A2 Televizion)
