From lecturers' salaries to building security, bonuses and honorariums or per diems and travel, the seven largest public universities in the country spent a total of 32.2 million euros in the academic year 2022-2023.
According to the Civic Center, the largest part of this fund turns out to have gone to the salaries of the academic staff, but there were also large payments to secure the buildings or for bonuses and office equipment.
"What remains a concern is the high and unjustified level of awards and honoraria for academic staff. Also, universities spend endless money on building security."
