The leader of the National Front, Adriatik Alimadhi, has been placed under investigation by the Tirana police for the criminal offense of "Opposing a Public Order Officer." In the video made public by exponents of the Democratic Party, the moment is seen when police forces escort the 61-year-old who was in the premises of a bar on Dibra Street.
After the escort, the Secretary General of the Democratic Party, Flamur Noka, reacted on his social network that Alimadhi was in his brother's cafe when he asked to learn from the police the reason for the search, which according to him was carried out violently and without a warrant.
Officially, the police explained that Adriatik Alimadhi was escorted by law enforcement after he disobeyed the orders of officers who had gone to the bar to exercise control over suspicions that illegal gambling and sports betting activities might be carried out there.
The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, also reacted to the incident.
"From this regime that brought back political imprisonment and political persecution in Albania. From this regime that in the election year decided to arrest the leaders of the three main opposition parties and most recently last night, in the most brutal, Stalinist way, arrested the chairman of a traditional party, the National Front, in his bar, just because he asked them, asked them: what do you want, why have you come, a gang of reformers. From this regime that knows no law, no Constitution, no norms or morals when it comes to robbing, plundering the assets of Albanians, the budget and plunging them ever deeper into misery."
Meanwhile, the Police Supervision Agency has initiated verifications regarding the claims raised by opposition representatives. (A2 Televizion)
