The Special Court did not come out with a decision on Friday on whether or not to put former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and the seven other defendants in the "Partizani" case on trial.

Through his lawyers, the former minister accused of "corruption", once again asked the preliminary judge Flojera Davidhi to dismiss the case, with the argument of innocence. The former prime minister's defenders claimed a set of invalid acts in the file, but also the lack of a call for statements from Prime Minister Edi Rama, former mayor at the time of the privatization of the former "Partizani" sports complex.

"This file, in which you find undisclosed acts, unlicensed experts, forged signatures, which the prosecutor listens to and remains silent. Imagine in this case, when Sali Berisha is the defendant and Edi Rama is not called. He is the author of the change of destination of the Partizani club's land, which has opened the way for all this."

According to SPAK, which is requesting that the case be referred to trial, former Prime Minister Berisha has approved laws and bylaws to favor his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, also a defendant in the case for "corruption" and "money laundering."

The other defendants in the trial also requested a stay of proceedings, while the session was interrupted and postponed to April 23, due to the absence of one of the lawyers for the commercial companies, considered the defendant as a legal entity.  (A2 Televizion)
