GJKKO sentences the former chief prosecutor of Vlora to 2 years and 8 months in

The Special Court announced this Tuesday the verdict for the former Chief Prosecutor of Vlora, Aurel Zarka.

The panel of judges, composed of Erjon Çela, Bib Ndreca and Rudina Palloj, decided to sentence Zarka to 4 years in prison.

With the application of the summary trial, the final sentence for Zarka is reduced to 2 years and 8 months in prison, and an additional sentence of 5 years out of public office will be imposed on top of it.

Zarka was accused of " passive corruption of judicial officials ", " active corruption " and " exercising unlawful influence " in several cases. The criminal file "Toyota Yaris".

The Special Prosecution Office completed the investigations against the suspended head of the Vlora prosecution in December 2024 and officially sent the "Toyota Yaris" criminal file for trial, taking Aurel Zarka as the defendant.

According to SPAK, the chief prosecutor who was investigated under the security measure "prison arrest" and three other people declared wanted, including Erjona Daupaj, former Judicial Police officer, and lawyer Radovan Çela, have exercised illegal influence, have taken bribes, but also given bribes to justice officials.
