SPAK prosecutors' emails hacked, Appeal leaves Zambak Gjoni and Arnold

The Special Court of Appeal has rejected the request for release of Zambak Gjoni and Arnold Rrokaj, the two accused of hacking the emails of SPAK prosecutors.

The cyberattack on SPAK took place on March 12, with hackers obtaining data from the emails of three special prosecutors, but failing to obtain material from the investigation files. They also attempted to hack into the email of Chief Prosecutor Altin Dumani, but according to SPAK they were unsuccessful.

"The Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, with a monocratic panel composed of Judge Dhimitër Lara, today on 22.04.2025, announced the decision on criminal case no. 28 act, date 14.04.2025 registration, on the appeal of the persons under investigation Z.Gj., and A.Rr., with the subject: "Appeal against decision no. 32, date 14.03.2025 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime", disposed of in the case of personal security measures, and decided to approve Decision/Order no. 32, date 14.03.2025 of the Judge who examines the requests of the parties during the preliminary investigations in the Special Court for Corruption and Organized Crime", the announcement states.

The Special Prosecution Office explained that the hackers were unable to penetrate the internal IT system, which according to them remains intact. SPAK explained that after the arrest of Zambak Gjoni and Arnold Rrokaj, they were able to seize both the equipment used to carry out the intrusion and the downloaded files. (A2 Televizion)
