Skateboards, or as they are otherwise known as electric scooters, have recently become increasingly popular with thieves. Almost every day in Tirana, various citizens report thefts of their scooters, which are parked on the street or outside their homes.
According to data, last year, more than 40% of criminal offenses in the country were thefts, a phenomenon that is also quite worrying for law enforcement. But how dangerous are their use? Experts say that drivers of these vehicles do not know the basic norms on how to use an electric scooter.
According to expert Islami Qibin, there are three factors that need to change for this category of vehicles.
"It is necessary to have a VKM regarding determining the age of people who appear to drive these types of vehicles. We also need to have a certificate or a booklet where this type of vehicle is identified and has a certain number. As well as one-week courses can be held to familiarize these drivers with the basic norms and principles of behavior on how they should circulate on the road".
These types of vehicles, says the expert, are impossible to be fined by the Traffic Police, because they are not registered. (A2 Televizion)
