Following the incident in Saranda, where the president of the Saranda Branch of the Albanian Tourist Union, Mr. Arben Çipa, was raped by several people, the Albanian Tourist Union has addressed the High Inspectorate of Justice, the Prosecutor General and the Director General of the State Police with a statement asking them to take concrete measures.
According to this Union, the event in question "constitutes an unprecedented act of rape of a well-known businessman from the city of Saranda by two individuals who barbarically attacked him with claims that he is exploiting properties that are not theirs, but as is usually the case in our country, where no one other than them is allowed to invest in properties favored by the strongmen of the village."
The statement also asks law enforcement institutions not to tolerate such cases from becoming a reason to curb investments in the tourism sector and damage the image of Albania as a tourist destination, writes A2 CNN.

The Albanian Tourist Union, taking the opportunity from the recent incident of the rape of the President of the Tourist Union's Branch for Saranda, Mr. Arben Çipa, which has shocked the entire tourism business community, is addressing this public appeal.
The incident in question, published across the entire spectrum of Albanian media and which continues to resonate in public discussions, constitutes an unprecedented act of rape of a well-known businessman from the city of Saranda by two individuals who have barbarically attacked him with claims that he is exploiting properties that do not appear in their ownership, but as often happens in our country, where no one else is allowed to invest in properties favored by the strongmen of the village.
Our community is shocked and alarmed by this ugly event, which unfortunately continues to be repeated because these cases do not receive the punishment they deserve from the authorities, as happened in the specific case of the decision of the Court of Fact, Saranda, which imposed house arrest on one of the arrested perpetrators of the event, who according to media reports, the persons in question also have legal precedents in the past.
Through this declaration, we appeal to the highest law enforcement bodies to react and not to tolerate such cases becoming a reason to inhibit investments in the tourism sector and to damage the good image of Albania as a tourist destination.
