Democratic Party MP Xhelal Mziu and his nephew, Elson Mziu, have been charged with "Threat or violence against election participants". According to the police, the uncle and nephew assaulted 33-year-old Kalosh Murra on Thursday afternoon after an electoral meeting held by the Democratic Party in the village of Ostren. The incident occurred outside the Ostren administrative unit.
It is learned that the 33-year-old is an employee in this administrative unit, responsible for the economic assistance distribution sector. Kaloshi himself has claimed to the police that he has no knowledge of why the incident occurred.
Meanwhile, sources from the investigative group indicate that they had received information that some citizens had told DP representatives that they could not go to the rally for fear that someone would see them and their social support would be taken away.
The Democratic MP, in a reaction on his social network Facebook, denies involvement in any incident, describing the event as a staging organized by representatives of the Socialist Party.
"At the Ostren meeting, in a demonstrative manner, the economic aid worker in the Bulqizë Municipality was intimidating the participants, some of whom left after these threats and others expressed concern about the removal of economic aid. A few minutes before the place where the meeting of opposition representatives was held, Jeton Dani, the father of the SP candidate, and his supporters arrived and exercised barbaric violence against the chairman of the Bulqizë PD Forum," said Mziu.
Mziu says that the police did not take any action regarding this incident, while asking SPAK to launch investigations and take possession of the footage. (A2 Televizion)
