The Head of the Special Prosecution Office, Altin Dumani, stated that there have been threats from organized crime to several prosecutors and agents of the National Bureau of Investigation.
Dumani made the comments in his report to the High Prosecutorial Council, where he said that the State Police has done a good job in taking measures to protect prosecutors in cases when they are threatened.
He also said that there is a decrease in referrals from public institutions to SPAK, but that according to him, this does not indicate a decrease in the credibility of this institution, writes A2 CNN.

Erind Gërmenji: What measures have you taken to maintain independence and integrity?
Dumani: The legal framework gives it complete independence from external pressure. The institution has faced political and media attacks time and time again. We have not been affected by these attacks. As for addressing it, the only institution that has reacted, and I thanked you, was the KLP.
But I cannot fail to mention the commitment of the State Police in the many cases where prosecutors, judges or BKH agents have been threatened by organized crime.
Especially with the changes of December 2023, better physical protection has been provided for SPAK prosecutors and so far the State Police has taken all measures to protect prosecutors, or their families, when they have been exposed to threats.
We have followed a strategy, several prosecutors in the case, or several agents, with the aim of having a compact group in dealing with these threats.
Erind Gërmenji: In your assessment, do you think that SPAK has lost the trust of public institutions?
Dumani: There is a decrease in referrals from public institutions. This is not happening only this year. It happened last year as well. I do not see it as a decrease in credibility. We put it in the report, to call on institutions for referrals, as we are ready for cooperation. (A2 Televizion)
