A major anti-drug operation has led to the seizure of 172 kilograms of cocaine, with a street value of over 25 million euros, and the arrest of three Albanian citizens in Italy, writes A2 CNN. The arrested are two brothers, aged 28 and 21, as well as a 43-year-old man, all without criminal records.
What stood out from the photos published by the Italian authorities was that some of the cocaine packages had the logo of the Tirana football club printed on them, while others had the emblems of Portugal and Brazil.
The arrests were carried out in the industrial area of Rubiera, in the province of Reggio Emilia, thanks to the collaboration between police teams from Bologna and Modena.
The investigations were carried out in coordination between the Italian and Albanian authorities, who had information about the arrival of a Renault Captur vehicle with two Albanians inside. They were followed from Trieste, where they had spent the night, to Rubiera. The police intervened when a truck stopped and its driver handed the two brothers a yellow envelope with drugs inside. During the search of the truck, another 156 kilograms of cocaine were found, hidden in a special compartment under the floorboards of the trailer.
All three suspects were arrested and are now in custody, while investigations into the trafficking ring continue. (A2 Televizion)
