The Ministry of Defense has taken stock of active fire outbreaks in the territory of the Republic of Albania.
Through a statement, the Ministry of Defense announced that 18 fires have been reported in the last 24 hours, of which 3 are still active.
It is also known that these fire outbreaks have been identified in the municipalities of: Vlorë, Dibër, Maliq, Korçë, Lezë, Kurbin, Bulqizë, Malësi e Madhe, Prrenjas, Saranda, Himarë, Poliçan, Kuçovë, Gjirokastër and Durrës.
In total, the fires, mainly in areas with trees, bushes and grass, burned about 36 hectares of vegetation, as well as 2,500 olive trees over 10 years old.

National fire situation
During the last 24 hours, 18 fires have been reported, of which 3 are still active. These fires have been identified in the municipalities of: Vlorë, Dibër, Maliq, Korçë, Lezhë, Kurbin, Bulqizë, Malësi e Madhe, Prrenjas, Saranda, Himarë, Poliçan, Kuçovë, Gjirokastër and Durrës.
Currently, the following outbreaks remain active:
• Orikum, Vlora municipality – In the place called “Sotiran” between the villages of Tragjas and Dukat, in an area with bushes and thorns at the height of the mountain. The situation was monitored during the night. Today, 8 firefighting forces, 4 municipal forces, 4 forces from the Forest Service are operating in the area, assisted by 20 military forces of the Armed Forces.
• Dibër District. The fire in a forest area with pine and juniper trees in the area called “Livadhi i Peladhisë”, Zerqan administrative unit, Bulqizë municipality, continues to be monitored. The area burned by the fire is estimated at around 18 ha. Today, work is continuing by the operational forces, but around 25 people are expected to come to their aid in support.
• Dibër – In the place called “Lake of Flowers”, part of the Lura National Park, work has continued to extinguish the fire that broke out in a forest area with pine trees and meadows. Yesterday, 7 employees of the Dibër MZSH and 5 forces of the AdZM were engaged to extinguish it. The fire is active within its perimeter and is continuing with low intensity. Today, work is continuing by the operational forces to completely extinguish it.
In total, about 36 hectares of vegetation have been burned by the fires, mainly in areas with trees, bushes and grass. While 2,500 olive trees over 10 years old were also burned, in the village of Zgërbonjë, Poliçan municipality. The State Police has detained a citizen, who has been escorted to the police station, as the author of the incident is suspected.
Around 30 fruit trees, such as olives, plums, figs and vines, were also burned near the Kuçovë hospital, in the “11 Shkurti” neighborhood, Kuçovë municipality. The cause of the fire is the rupture of low-voltage electrical wires.
28 firefighting vehicles and 237 personnel were deployed in the firefighting operations. The Armed Forces also participated in yesterday's operations with 40 personnel and 1 Cougar helicopter.
Based on the forecasts of the Institute of Geosciences, at the National Operational Center for Civil Emergencies, light rainfall is expected today in the regions of Shkodër, Kukës and Elbasan, while locally light rainfall is expected in the regions of Dibër, Durrës, Tirana, Berat, Korçë, Vlorë and Gjirokastër.
Regarding fires, a "HIGH" risk level is expected in the Fier and Vlora counties, a "MODERATE" risk level in the Lezhë, Durrës, Tirana, Elbasan, Berat, Korçë and Gjirokastër counties, and a "LOW" risk level in the Shkodër, Kukës and Dibër counties.
Civil Protection structures continue to be fully engaged, in cooperation with all responsible institutions, in monitoring and timely intervention in every fire, with the aim of minimizing damage to the environment and the risk to the lives of citizens.
