Diplomat Ilir Shqina passes away

Diplomat Ilir Shqina passed away today, writes A2 CNN.

Through a post on social media, former minister Majlinda Bregu confirmed the news, describing it as sad news.

She also writes that she was lucky to have Ilir as a diplomatic advisor at the Ministry of Integration, where, according to Bregu, he was characterized by correctness, dignity and prudence.

I just received the sad news of the passing of Ilir Shqina.

I met Ilir when we were both young lecturers at the University, and later I was fortunate to have him by my side as a Diplomatic Counselor at the Ministry of European Integration, in the years when Albania faced one of the most important phases of the European membership process.

We did not have the same political beliefs, but Ilir brought to the Ministry of European Integration what is often lacking in the administration: correctness, dignity, and prudence as an act of public service.

Our deepest condolences for this untimely loss to the family and all those who knew and loved him.

Rest in peace, Ilir.
