A 59-year-old man from Lushnja has been arrested in Durrës after he attempted to bribe traffic police officers by offering them 1,000 lek after it was determined that he was driving while intoxicated.
Izet Ymeri initially refused to obey the police to stop the vehicle and then attempted to avoid arrest and refused to take an alcohol test.
"The Durrës DVP Traffic Police Patrol has stopped in the poplar area, for verifications, the vehicle driven by citizen IY, 59 years old, resident of Lushnja. As soon as he was asked by the Police officers to take an alcohol test, the 59-year-old offered 1000 lekë. The Police officers performed the alcohol test, which resulted in 0.86 mg/l. At the end of the procedural actions, citizen IY was arrested for the criminal offenses "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions" and "Irregular driving of vehicles", and the materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office for further actions."
