Police explain the incident that caused panic in Tirana

The Tirana Local Police Directorate has clarified the incident that occurred this morning in the capital, where a 42-year-old man with mental health problems endangered the lives of Police officers. According to the Police, the 42-year-old crashed his vehicle into 3 police vehicles while attempting to leave the QSUT premises, after shooting a female doctor with a toy pistol. 2 traffic police officers were slightly injured in the collisions.

The police explain that they have handcuffed the perpetrator, and have also seized the pellet gun with which the 42-year-old shot.

Police Notification

The 42-year-old man was arrested after endangering the lives of police officers by crashing three of their vehicles with the vehicle he was driving while attempting to leave the QSUT premises after shooting a female doctor with a toy gun.

The item used by the 42-year-old to shoot has been seized.

At around 09:00, citizen EV, 42 years old, suspected of having mental health problems, shot a doctor from the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center in the lower limbs with a toy pistol (with bullets), and attempted to leave the premises of this center by vehicle.

Immediately after receiving information, the Police services pursued this citizen, were able to apprehend him and escorted him to the Police premises, in order to carry out further procedural actions.

While attempting to flee, the 42-year-old crashed the vehicle he was driving into three police vehicles. Two traffic police officers were slightly injured in the collisions.
