The police in Elbasan have launched investigations into the case reported yesterday by the blue headquarters, where DP leader Sali Berisha and candidate Bledi Himçi produced evidence of vote manipulation through the so-called "Bulgarian train" in the village of Pekisht.
The police inform that after receiving a report yesterday that some suspected election materials had been found in a bar in the village of Pekisht, they immediately went to the address provided, in order to verify the case.
In this premises, several fake ballots and a sum of money in the possession of the headman of the village of Pekisht, Dervish Beqiri, who was also an observer for the Socialist Party in the May 11 elections, were seized.
" During the actions carried out at the scene, in cooperation with the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office, in the premises of citizen DB, 10 ballot papers similar to ballot papers, incomplete, suspected of being falsified, were found and seized, as well as a list of voters. Also, citizen DB's wallet, with 280,000 lek, was seized ," the police announced.
Also during the search of Beqiri's apartment, an old trophy rifle and a sports noisemaker were found.
" Following the actions in the case, the Crime Investigation specialists of the Peqin Police Commissariat referred the procedural materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where criminal proceedings were initiated against citizen DB, for the criminal offenses of "Falsification of electoral material and election results" and "Unlicensed production and possession of hunting and sporting weapons ," the police explain.
We recall that the leading democrat Berisha called this case a major electoral scandal.
