Tirana Police announced that they have launched a criminal investigation into 3 officers of Police Station No. 1 in the capital, after they were accused by the parents of a 14-year-old boy of raping the minor while escorting him to the police station.
The teenager was accompanied by two inspectors and a deputy commissioner on April 12, after it was suspected that he had thrown pyrotechnics in the Artificial Lake area, an act that was reported by residents of the area, after it had caused panic and concern among them, writes A2 CNN. The juvenile's case was proceeded with at large.
But his parents have accused the three officers, inspectors DM and RD and deputy commissioner Xh.B., of raping the minor during their stay at the police station.
Following this accusation, the Tirana Police Directorate has initiated disciplinary proceedings for serious violations against the three officers, while the Police Supervision Agency, on 15.04.2025, referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, with the aim of criminally investigating the 3 Police officers, for the offenses of "Committing arbitrary acts" and "Other intentional damage".
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Professional Standards, by order of the General Director of the State Police, has immediately launched an administrative investigation to verify whether the 3 Police officers have violated the powers and obligations assigned to them by the State Police regulation and standard work procedure.
