Dritan Rexhepi testified about the kidnapping of Jan Prenga.
Prosecutor Behar Dibra: At the end of 2019, where were you?
Dritan Rexhepi: I was in prison, in Ecuador. I was imprisoned for 13 years for drug trafficking. I had been serving 5 years and 4 months in prison.
Dibra: Did you have any contacts abroad?
Rexhepi: Yes, with a prison cell.
Prosecutor: What about other people?
Rexhepi: No, it wasn't possible.
Prosecutor: Who did you have contact with in prison, any Albanians?
Rexhepi: With a Kosovar, I don't remember his name.
Prosecutor: Where were you before you were imprisoned?
Rexhepi: Around the world.
Prosecutor: Who were you arrested with?
Rexhepi: 10 people were accused. Remzi Azemi from Kosovo was found not guilty.
Prosecutor: Gentjan Funiqi, does this name remind you of anything?
Rexhepi: I've only heard about him through the media. I've never met him in my life.
Prosecutor: Martin Dedja and Korado Geshtenja, do you know them?
Rexhepi: No.
Prosecutor: At that time, did you collaborate with others to carry out drug activities while you were in Ecuador?
Rexhepi: No.
Prosecutor: Did you hear about a container of drugs that was seized?
Rexhepi: I learned about it after seeing it in the media in Albania. I heard from my family members that in Albania they were accused of a cargo that was seized in England. At that time, I learned about a person who had been kidnapped and taken hostage. Through my family members, I asked to find out. They told me that there were wiretaps of Dritan Rexhepi with the brother of the missing person. Where are these wiretaps? I'm not there. My face has been black for 5 years. You got on the wrong train and you want to go where you want. I'm not the person who spoke to them and I'm not the person for what you wrote in the file. I was in prison and I spoke to a journalist and I told him that I was not the person who ordered the kidnapping of Jani Prenga. I spoke to Artan Hoxha. I gave him some photos and told him to publish them. The journalist met my brother-in-law at the Tirana Prosecutor's Office by chance and there they talked about what was happening.
Rexhepi's lawyer: Since the journalist is in the courtroom, we request that he be called as a witness.
Prosecution: For us, it is not valuable to call him as a witness. If he wants, he can leave the courtroom.
After this, the court decided that Artan Hoxha should leave the courtroom for the interrogation phase of Dritan Rexhepi.
Rexhepi: My problem was only the hostility, because I was being talked about. It said Gramoz from Vlora. I am not that person. You have to ask yourself. Why is the name Gramoz and Dritan Rexhepi linked?
Prosecutor: How many names did you have?
Rexhepi: Until I was 13, they called me Gramoz, then everyone called me Dritan. Even today, I am not married. I had a 12-year relationship with an Ecuadorian woman and I have two sons with her.
Prosecutor: After you spoke to the journalist, what happened next? Dritan or Artan Hoxha, was he a name known to you before, had you ever met him?
Rexhepi: No, I didn't know him, I had never met him. Even later, I didn't have any communication with any journalist.
Prosecutor: Have you heard of Ndrek Prenga, he is Jan Prenga's brother. Or his other brother, Astrit Prenga?
Rexhepi: No, under no circumstances. (A2 Televizion)
