Dozens of citizens in Kukës have protested for road safety in their residential areas. Deadly accidents have increased significantly and citizens are demanding sidewalks and lighting.

Several citizens protested this Saturday morning in Kukës due to safety on the city's roads with the aim of taking measures to avoid accidents. The protest was caused by several fatal accidents, while recently a 51-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a vehicle on the city's entrance road that connects Kukës with the Kukës-Morinë segment of the national road.

Dozens of protesters gathered near the spot where the 51-year-old man died, in one of the areas with a high flow of vehicle and business traffic, where drivers abuse speed, and blocked the road for several minutes as a sign of awareness and warning of an escalation of the protest next Saturday if measures are not taken to increase road safety parameters. The protesters said that the situation has become worrying and appealed to the state to intervene.

The 51-year-old man was riding a moped on this road on Friday morning when he was hit by a vehicle. As a result, the moped driver died. Police have arrested the 20-year-old driver of the vehicle. (A2 Televizion)
