The Special Court sentences Aleksandër Laho, also known as Pëllumb Muharremi, to 10 months in prison for corruption charges. In its claim, SPAK requested that the person known as "Rrumi i Shijakut" be sentenced to 3 years in prison, but in the end the court sentenced him to 1 year and 3 months in prison and due to the summary trial, the sentence was reduced to 10 months in prison.
According to SPAK's investigations, Laho gave the State Attorney's official, Irgen Kërçuku, previously sentenced to 2 years in prison for corruption, the amount of 600 thousand lek and promised him 300 thousand lek more, in order not to file a complaint about a property issue. The amount of money, according to SPAK, was given in the form of a bribe and so that no complaint would be filed in the Court of Appeal regarding a matter related to the alienation of 45 thousand square meters of public land in Lalzi Bay.
Aleksandër Laho is a well-known name in Albanian justice. He was injured in 2019, in the assassination attempt on Durrës prosecutor Arjan Ndoja, with whom he was in the same car, where the driver Andi Maloku died.
At that time, his phone was seized, which resulted in a video of him communicating with a state attorney's office official about the corruption case.
Aleksandër Laho continues to be wanted by Albanian authorities, while his lawyer has claimed that he is in serious health condition because after the assassination attempt in 2019 he did not receive proper medical intervention and was left injured by bullets, mutilating one of his legs.
