Dozens of Erion Veliaj's supporters have gathered near the Special Court of Criminal Appeals, where the verification of the security measure for the mayor of Tirana is expected at around 08:30. At around 08:15, his wife, Ajola Xoxa, arrived before the Special Court, for whom house arrest has been ordered.
Arrested businessman Elman Abule will also appear for verification, as well as 5 businessmen Gentian Sula, Meriman Palushi, Fatmir Bektashi, Sokol Kryeziu and Shkëlqim Fusha, for whom a mandatory appearance measure has been imposed.
Veliaj is accused of corruption and money laundering, while Xoxa is accused of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets. Businessman Abule is charged with money laundering, while the other 5 are only charged with active corruption. The prosecutors of the case are Olsi Dado and Altin Dumani, while the judge is Erion Bani.
According to the accusation filed by SPAK, Veliaj allegedly created a corrupt scheme between his wife's companies and 6 businessmen close to him. (A2 Televizion)
