The famous comedian, Elvis Pupa, has reacted on social media regarding the news published the day before that he is wanted by Australian authorities, after 43 roots of the narcotic cannabis sativa plant were found cultivated in his home.
Pupa writes to all his followers that he is in Tirana and that he has not escaped, while calling the news a misinterpretation just for clicks.
"I am forced to react after some false and malicious news circulating in the media, according to which I allegedly "have escaped" and "am wanted". I want to make it very clear: for more than a month I have been in Tirana, where I am carrying out regular professional engagements, planned in Albania and beyond in Europe.
Any attempt to present this situation differently is pure manipulation of information, a deliberate misinterpretation aimed at making news where there is nothing extraordinary.
As for my wife, Belina, she continues her professional activity and is completely free. The entire situation that is currently being addressed is part of a legal process that is still ongoing, and as she herself has stated, it is up to justice to have the last word.
Unfortunately, we have seen a serious misuse of the news, for the purpose of sensationalism and clicks, where distortion has taken the place of truth. Our lives are public, but this does not give anyone the right to abuse people's dignity.
"Life continues normally, with our daily work and responsibilities. We will face every situation with calm, transparency and respect for the truth," writes Elvis Pupa.
According to Australian media, Belina Pupa appeared in court on Tuesday requesting that her movement not be restricted, as she needs to travel abroad for work.
Prosecutors rejected Ms Pupa's request to move out of Australia, due to the serious charges and the fact that her husband is on the run. (A2 Televizion)
