Three police officers in Elbasan have been suspended from duty after a detainee escaped from the city police station.
The suspension was made by order of the Prosecutor's Office following investigations by the Police Supervision Agency into the incident that occurred on June 3, when the citizen with the initials BZ, detained as a suspect for a criminal offense, escaped from the police station premises.
"A security measure of a prohibitive nature "Suspension of the exercise of a public duty or service" has been imposed on three police officers at the Elbasan Police Station, suspected of "Abuse of duty", specifically; - Deputy Commissioner A. ZH., 35 years old, with the duty of Specialist for Order, at the Elbasan Police Station; - Inspector PB, 54 years old, with the duty of Assistant Specialist for Information, at the Elbasan Police Station; - Inspector J. GJ., 60 years old, with the duty of Assistant Specialist for the maintenance of security rooms, at the Elbasan Police Station", AMP announces.
According to preliminary investigations, the three officers are suspected of failing to take the necessary measures to secure the detained person, thereby creating the opportunity for him to escape.
They are facing charges of "Abuse of office", while investigations into the incident continue.
