A 46-year-old man arrested for theft has been found hanging in the security block in the capital. It is learned that Donald Greku, born in Berat and residing in Tirana, was arrested by Police Station No. 3 for theft.
He was found hanging in his overalls at around 01:20, by a police officer during a routine check, and the emergency services were immediately notified, but when the medical team arrived, he was pronounced dead.
"The police officer found the detainee hanging from the window net of the room and immediately intervened, asking for help from other officers. In an attempt to keep the detainee upright, one of the officers cut the clothes he had used to hang himself and the emergency services were immediately notified. The medical service arrived at the scene, where it was determined that the detainee had passed away."
According to the Police, 46-year-old Donald Greku "had declared that he was a drug user and after visiting the toxicology service, the doctors had not determined a methadone dose, since from contact with the "Aksion Plus" center, it was confirmed that he was not registered as a methadone user. In the medical recommendation issued by the security block doctor, the sedative Xanax was prescribed, which was given to the detainee according to this recommendation."
