Checks begin in the high security prison in Drenovë, Korçë. Three vehicles of the rapid intervention forces have headed towards the high security prison in the southeast of the country. Strict checks are being made for weapons and other illegal items.

Earlier today, the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, ordered that all the country's prisons be upgraded to maximum security.
While speaking to the journalists, Manja clarified that the order would be issued anyway due to the approach of the holidays, but the event that happened in Peqin, caused it to be accelerated.

The convict with life imprisonment, Sokol Mjacaj, while he was in the ventilation facilities, approached the window of the cell where the convict Arben Lleshi was and shot him three times.
Due to the close distance, the bullets fired from Mjacaj's pistol hit the convict Lleshi in the neck and chest, who, although he received first aid, could not survive his injuries and died. At the moment of the conflict with firearms, under still unclear circumstances, the other convict, Indrit Shaqja, was also injured with firearms.
After the crime, Sokol Mjacaj tried to hold an employee of the Peqin prison administration hostage, but the intervention of the operational forces of the Directorate of Prisons, followed by those of the RENEA forces and the Elbasan Police, neutralized and isolated the prisoner. lifelong Sokol Mjacaj.
The latter was serving a life sentence for the murder of two Czech tourists, in an attempt to rob them. In addition to numerous police forces, the prosecutor of Elbasan also arrived at the scene, who immediately interrogated the convicted Sokol Mjacaj, regarding this event.
