The Democrats managed to convince 25 other parties to form a broad-based coalition for the parliamentary elections on May 11. Negotiations conducted until the expiration of the legal deadline created a formation that includes left and right, conservatives and liberals, Greek and Cham minorities, under the name "Great Albania". The goal is to maximize the vote for the parliamentary elections on May 11.
In such negotiations, ideologies take a back seat and every walk to the DP headquarters was with a clear goal, to get as many names on the safe list as possible. Thus, the Freedom Party seems to have won the most, which will have four names on the safe list: Ilir Meta, Tedi Blushi, Erisa Xhixho and Edmond Haxhinasto, writes A2 CNN.
The other allies did not come away empty-handed, although their claims could have been even greater. Thus, Fatmir Mediu, Agron Duka, Vangjel Dule and Shpëtim Idrizi cemented a place on the safe list, bringing to 8 the number of mandates that the Democrats will give to the allies, with the hope that the union of their votes will manage to produce other mandates beyond the closed list.
The coalition has a total of 26 parties, where those who were once considered the parliament of burnt mandates returned to the fold of the DP. Thus, the name of Kujtim Gjuzi or Selami Jenisheri is also in this political formation, but also the Ballists divided into two parties, such as Adriatik Alimadhi and Artur Roshi, together with the Legalists led by Shpëtim Axhami.
The conclusion of this agreement is one less problem for the Democrats, but the headache of internal troubles is not over. By March 12, the leadership of the DP, together with Berisha as chairman, must draft the list of candidates for deputies, where the appetites of those who emerged victorious in the primaries are not small. In addition to Sali Berisha's "Greater Albania", two other coalitions have been registered with the Central Election Commission: "Dajthash për Zhvillim" with Dashamir Shehi and Enkelejd Alibeaj; as well as the other formation, "Nisma Shqipëria Bëhet" with Adriatik Lapaj and Nismë Thurje.
