In "Off the Record" with Andrea Dangli, on A2 CNN, Foreign Minister Igli Hasani answered important questions regarding Albanian-Greek relations.
He claimed that for about two years there have been talks and negotiations between Tirana and official Athens, which also made it possible to give the green light for the opening of chapters of membership negotiations with the European Union.
"We are and continue to be in constant communication with Athens. The Albanian-Greek relationship is one of the most essential relationships that creates very important dynamics in the region. We never choose our neighbor and it is important to treat our neighbor in the right way and the treatment is in confrontation, in negotiations and in conversation to achieve the fulfillment of those demands that both parties need to move forward. It has been a very good effort for us to understand each other better in this 1 and a half year. Which also brought the green light for the opening of technical negotiations and we will work to have this commitment as sincere and direct even with high-level visits", said Hasani in "Off the Record" by Andrea Danglli, on A2 CNN.
Regarding Prime Minister Edi Rama's calls from Athens, Thessaloniki and Crete for the lifting of the law of war with Albania, Hasani confirmed that work is being done in this direction.
"Electoral declarations are declarations. They are public declarations, which constitute the evident part of the work that the Albanian administration, Albanian diplomacy does to continue to close all those issues that are open, require treatment and require negotiations, in such a conversation it is necessary for both sides to reach a common point and I am convinced that we are able to reach common points with all our partners, including Greece", declared the Foreign Minister in "Off the Record" by Andrea Danglli, on A2 CNN.
