The Democratic Party requested the Prosecutor's Office to investigate the deputy mayor of Tirana, Anuela Ristani, who is also the acting mayor of the institution, for abuse of office. The Democrats consider her behavior with the media unacceptable and in violation of ethics, and therefore demand her removal.
"With voice and image, we saw how not only was the Mayor-in-Chief not held accountable for the serious violation committed in the continuous and unjust use of the Municipality's resources for her personal interests and those of her relatives, but we also saw her unethical attack, even with high levels of nervousness and extremely threatening tones towards journalists who were doing their duty. According to the published footage, the behavior of the Mayor-in-Chief at the head of Tirana constitutes abuse of office, use of state property for family benefits and a serious violation of the ethics of a public official."
The Democratic Party calls on the prosecution bodies to begin investigations into the denunciation made. Also, on behalf of the opposition councilors, I request that the day after tomorrow, Tuesday afternoon, when the next meeting of the Municipal Council is scheduled to take place, an item on the administrative accountability of Ms. Ristani be added to the agenda and also, the Democratic Party demands the immediate removal of Ms. Ristani from the position of the acting mayor and at the same time the dismissal of Veliaj an hour earlier from the Council of Ministers.
