With the United States funds being distributed through the embassy in Tirana, Sali Berisha says that people close to Prime Minister Edi Rama have also abused them.

The opposition leader claims that one of the abusers of US funds is Linda Rama, the Prime Minister's wife, writes A2 CNN.

"At the top of the list are two ladies, Linda Rama, the current wife of the Prime Minister, who in dozens and dozens of her projects, with the Open Albania Foundation, with the UNDP and others, has benefited from staggering amounts in flagrant violation of basic anti-corruption laws," said Berisha.

According to Berisha, Edi Rama's former cohabitant, Delina Fico, who is leading a project to reduce the backlog of files at the Supreme Court, has also abused American funding.

"Lubia number 2 or Delina Fico with the legal advisors whose company, in violation of the Constitution and the laws, has approached the Supreme Court and the justice system, has devoured ten million euros from USAID funds," said Berisha.

He promises to conduct his own investigation if he takes over the government of Albania after May 11, saying he will conduct a full audit of the funds. But in the meantime, he calls on the American authorities to shed light.
"I call on the FBI to undertake a priority investigation in Albania to uncover all the major abuses at the highest level of the Albanian government with American taxpayers' money," said the Democratic leader.

Berisha also confirmed a statement by campaign manager Chris LaCivita, who told the New York Times that his cooperation with the Democratic Party does not include lobbying American authorities to abolish the ban on women. The Democrat leader emphasized that LaCivita was contracted only as an electoral strategist. (A2 Televizion)
