Balluku inspects works for the new Kuçova substation: It serves

The Kuçova electrical substation is undergoing a deep reconstruction. Built in 1956 and with equipment from the same period, which directly affects the quality of service to subscribers, the investment launched foresees not only a complete reconstruction, but also an increase in capacity.

65% of the works have been completed so far, while the new substation will serve more than 15 thousand residents of the area, and will also have dedicated feeders for the military aviation base and oil wells.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, together with the administrator of the OSSH, Blendian Dalipaj, closely followed the progress of the works.

"After the power upgrade, the substation will go from the 40 megawatts of installed power it has today to nearly 100 megawatts, meaning 2.5 times more capacity to supply the area and a new voltage level of 20 kilovolts will be added. We have two 35 kilovolt lines. Meanwhile, from the substation itself, we have almost 17 feeders that supply all of Kuçova with the surrounding villages. There are also two other 110 kilovolt lines that are completely new lines coming from Cerrik and Jagodina. So this substation, in addition to being a substation that supplies the region, is also a guarantee for the secure supply of the 110 kilovolt system as a whole," said Dalipaj.

This investment not only addresses today's demands and flows, but also responds to expected developments through capacity expansion. Also, in this project it is foreseen that the current equipment of the substation will be added to the list of objects of the energy museum, serving as a space to be visited mainly by students and pupils.

"While we guarantee the operations of Kuçova airport, over 15 thousand subscribers from the entire area benefit from this substation. We will not only offer better service, but on the other hand, here we also achieve one of the goals that we have, which is related to reducing losses. When we talk about reducing losses, it is always incomprehensible perhaps for citizens, but now the time has come to explain why citizens benefit from reducing losses. Of course, the quality of service improves, but on the other hand, only 1% of the reduction in losses corresponds to a saving of 8 million euros", announced Balluku.

Improving performance remains one of the main objectives of investments that respond to the development of the area or major projects that have an impact on the country's economy.

"Our main goal is definitely to provide a better quality service, definitely not to have interruptions, definitely in areas that are being developed, such as the case of Kuçova here where we are where a military airport has been built or in the case where we are near the Akërnia area in Vlora, we also have a new substation there, which are substations that support the economic development of the country, the development of transport in various fields, such as railways tomorrow, or airports, aviation today, on the other hand what we benefit from these new substations is undoubtedly the reduction of losses, which corresponds to saving money and as a result, a reduction in prices for citizens", said Balluku.

The works for the Kuçova electrical substation are expected to be completed in the summer of this year. (A2 Televizion)
