"Together on May 11 for a strong mandate", Rama: The EU passport makes

Prime Minister Edi Rama started this morning with a conversation with his followers on social media in the "Sy m'sy" section. In response to one of them's question about completing the work started before the EU passport, Rama emphasized that the EU passport comes as a direct benefit.

"We have not left and will not leave any work unfinished. We do not leave any work unfinished. The EU passport is important because with entry into the EU, obtaining a passport is a direct benefit for every citizen. Obtaining an EU passport is much more than free movement. From the moment we enter an EU border. The EU passport makes us first-class citizens, because there are no more borders for us, we no longer have to queue to go to that police station. No one asks us how long we will stay or when we enter. We can look for work wherever we want and if we have a health service, we can get it just like the citizens of that country we go to," said Rama.

He called for them to come together on May 11 to obtain a strong mandate to conclude negotiations in 2027.

According to Rama, only the Socialist Party can bring Albania into the EU, otherwise it will take many more years. He also mentioned Montenegro and Serbia, which are still continuing the process of negotiations with the EU.

"First of all, more than a victory for me personally, because at the end of the day, my victories were about proving something to myself, I have done and surpassed more than a victory for the Socialist Party, my party that I have the honor of leading, this is a victory for everyone and for you personally, entering the EU. You've been telling me this for a long time. I know when Montenegro started negotiations, in 2012. We started them last year. I know when Serbia started them, in 2014. You know where Serbia is today and where we are in the negotiation process. We are ahead. I know when North Macedonia became a candidate for the EU, in 2005. I know that the Republic of Macedonia has not yet opened negotiations, what are you talking about? How do you know about EU accession? I know what it is to negotiate with the EU? Having reliable institutions, some basic standards like the EU and we are doing this whether you like it or not. We are building a state because precisely the negotiations and entering the EU are the test and exam of the state. This state. There are 27 member states, does this other state that will join us have the parameters to be part of this mess? When they bring you in and say you are just like us, your people will come to us, our people will come to you and everyone should feel protected, what do you say? These are games. What are these talks? Not that we are not incompetent, but on the contrary, I and the EU will bring Albania into the EU or this work may not be done for who knows how many more years. When we took office, no one looked at us".
