The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, declared that "the DP considers the health care program for Albanians to be an emergency."
"In its program, the DP will indisputably guarantee quality medicines used in EU member states, by prohibiting by law the introduction into Albania of any medicine that is not used in two EU countries. The DP notes that today, the number of beds per capita is two times lower than in EU countries. The number of doctors per capita is going four times lower. In this context, increasing the number of doctors, opening a second faculty of medicine with the aim of quickly reaching the European standard in doctors per capita, the reconstruction or construction of new hospitals will be immediate objectives of the DP," Berisha said.
"But the health system, which of all the systems has suffered the greatest hemorrhage, will not be able to survive without doubling the salaries of doctors and nurses in Albania as a fundamental condition for doctors to remain in Albania.
So that this great collapse of the health system in Albania is stopped. Therefore, doubling salaries will be the first and main objective in our intervention for the health system. New legal relationships will be established between the private sector and the public sector. The government will maintain relations only with the non-profit private sector. As for the other sector, it will certainly allow their activity, but they will not be able to benefit from the activities and procurements in the health system. The digital card and its digitalization will be the foundation of the reform that we are undertaking," Berisha added, writes A2.
"Albania is the only country where there is no digital card, but there is a card just like at the beginning of the twentieth century. Everything was prepared, only its implementation was left. Everything was rolled back in these 12 years and we went back. So, a deep, rapid and comprehensive reform in which there is one goal and one goal only, the rapid increase in the quality of health service for Albanian citizens and the drastic reduction of their financial burden in health care. This burden today goes to 60 percent, at a time when in Germany it is 12 percent, in Italy it is 21 percent. 60 percent is among the highest in the world and it is all corruption. All government partnerships in health will be immediately canceled, corrupt to the core. All those who enriched themselves on the lives of Albanian patients will be brought before the law. I am optimistic that with determination, with doubling the budget, with the completion of the reform, with the implementation of the reform, we will "If we change it, we will truly achieve a health service with the highest quality that Albania has known in its history," Berisha further emphasized.
