Diaspora Tour, Rama on March 29 in Chania, Crete, meeting in Milan on April 13

Prime Minister Edi Rama will resume his diaspora tour in four days, with the first meeting he will hold on March 29 with Albanian emigrants in Crete, while the day after he will stop in Athens.

After Greece on April 13, Rama will hold meetings with Albanians in Milan. Details about the head of government's tour of meetings in Greece and Italy were provided by the political leader of the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla, in a communication with Rama in the "Eye to Eye" column.

Balla said the first stop will be Chania, a city with a significant Albanian community in the west of Crete, the island where about 35,000-40,000 Albanians live.

"Somewhere between 10,000 and 14,000 Albanians live in Chania and are very integrated. What I have noticed from conversations with representatives of the local government of Chania, I am pleased to note that Albanians are very well represented in local government bodies and in cooperation with them," said Balla.

The meeting in Chania will take place in a sports palace and will be attended by a large community from the surrounding area to and from Heraklion.

"We will meet representatives of associations there without distinction of left or right, because it is a historic visit and for the first time an Albanian prime minister is going to meet them. On the 29th in the afternoon, at 6:00 PM," Balla explained.

The tour in Greece will continue the next day in Athens with a meeting with compatriots living in the Greek capital.

"On Sunday afternoon we will have another meeting with compatriots in Athens, where we must say that Greece is second after Italy in the number of compatriots registered to cast their votes on May 11. The Athens meeting will also be large with representatives not only from Athens, but also from the surrounding area in Attica," declared Balla.

Balla also provided details about the tour in Italy that will continue in two weeks.

"We have selected a point near Milan, because it is a point that unites everyone and people from all over Italy can participate, but let's not forget that the majority of compatriots in Italy live in the northern part," he added.

Meanwhile, the first ballots are expected to arrive within the first 10 days of April in the homes of Albanian emigrants.

"My expectation is that somewhere between April 7-8-9 the first envelopes will arrive somewhere in slightly closer destinations and by mid-April they will have arrived in other parts of the world where Albanians live. Don't forget, there are 120 countries where compatriots live, all the way to Antigua, Iran," Balla announced in Prime Minister Rama's "Eye to Eye" column. (A2 Televizion)
