Berisha accuses Rama of creating an agency for land grabbing: DP will finally resolve the property issue

Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of destroying property rights in Albania, describing the creation of the Investment Corporation as a mechanism for plundering land and property, both public and private. During a visit to the home of an old Tirana family, Berisha said that this agency is operating outside any constitutional and legal framework, taking land and property without restrictions and at ridiculous prices.

"With the creation of the Investment Corporation agency, they are now taking land from every Albanian without any restrictions and at ridiculous prices."

According to Berisha, the current situation is reminiscent of the laws of 1946, when the communist regime forcibly nationalized all private property.

Referring to a personal story from 1991, Berisha brought to attention the peaceful way in which villagers divided land among themselves, to show that the concept of property was deeply rooted in Albanian culture, despite the collectivist legacy of the dictatorship.

"In 12 years of governance, Rama not only failed to resolve the property issue, but deepened it even further. Today, property is in absolute danger," declared Berisha, adding that only 800 files out of over 22,000 have been resolved.

Berisha warned citizens not to become part of the "organized looting" and promised that the DP will not recognize any decision made by this agency. He guaranteed that the DP will finally resolve the property issue in Albania.

"First, absolutely. We will not recognize any decision of this agency. And I warn Albanians. Do not become co-authors in the crime of appropriating the property of others, because the DP, its government, will never accept such a thing. Never! Secondly, in 4 years, whatever the cost, we will definitively resolve the property issue in Albania. Property is the foundation of family and freedom. Its issue is the mission of the Democratic Party, indispensable for peace, justice and the morality of society," he concluded. (A2 Televizion)
