The European Union Ambassador went to get up close and personal with the process of organizing the parliamentary elections, following the publication of the ODIHR's preliminary report.

For almost 30 minutes, Ilirjan Celibashi informed the head of the delegation about the measures taken by the institution and came out to express the conclusions of the meeting in front of the cameras.

"I came to visit with Mr. Celibashi to get an update on developments. These elections are very important, because they are the first to take place since the opening of negotiations with Albania, which is also part of the first set of chapters, the fundamental issues related to democratic institutions and democratic processes."

The Brussels diplomat was also asked about the DP's $6 million contract in Washington. In these elections, SPAK has taken a proactive role, with Celibashi confirming that information exchanges are intensifying day by day, while the EU ambassador did not mince words.

"The fight against organized crime and corruption is at the heart of the negotiation, and we have full confidence in SPAK, so they will take a closer look at this," Gonzato said.

The ODIHR interim report highlighted many concerns that observers had received from interlocutors, such as the use of public assets in elections or voter intimidation, findings which were also confirmed by the head of the CEC.

Part of the discussion between Gonzato and Celibashi was the diaspora vote, for which the head of the CEC announced the extension of the deadline until May 8 for the withdrawal of envelopes from the postal operator's offices in cases where delivery to the home has not been possible.
