Sali Berisha responded to Erion Veliaj, after the mayor of Tirana reacted on social networks to the DP leader's accusation that he had fled to the United States.

What happened during the morning?
On Saturday morning, Berisha denounced what he called Erion Veliaj's "escape" to the USA. In a statement to the media, the chairman of the DP stated that this action of the mayor is an escape from justice.

According to Berisha, this act of Veliaj was supported by Edi Rama, accusing that the prime minister influenced Veliaj not to be placed in the security measure of the ban to leave the country, writes A2.

The investigation into Veliaj, SPAK reacts to A2 CNN: There are data for 4 criminal offences
Erion Veliaj was interrogated on Thursday by SPAK prosecutors, where in the public response, the Special Prosecutor's Office said it has information on charges for 4 criminal offenses, even though it did not mention the mayor by name.
The suspicions of SPAK are for the criminal offenses "Passive corruption of high state officials or local elected officials", "Active corruption of high state officials or local elected officials", "Cleaning of the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity" and "Refusal for declaration, non-declaration, concealment or false declaration of assets, private interests of elected persons and public officials, or of any other person who has legal obligation to declare".
