In a meeting with professors, teachers and students, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, presented the Democrats' program for education and science.
According to the leader of the Democrats, the education system in Albania is currently in agony, while the DP program will bring a profound transformation of the entire system.
"The education system in Albania, in the truest sense of the word, is almost in agony. This system, which, fortunately, already has world tests that evaluate education systems, suffered in the 8 years of the Renaissance the biggest decline, the biggest rollback in the world, and was set back 25-30 years in the PISA test. The test, universally accepted as the most serious, most reliable test for the quality of education.
Education in Albania has undergone a turnaround at all levels. Of course, there is nothing more difficult to achieve and more important than the quality of education, and Albania must do an extraordinary job to guarantee a quality education for its citizens.
But with all the difficulties, with all the legacies we had, the opportunities were real for rapid, qualitative improvements to pursue in all directions, time, and developments.
I don't want to dwell on the situation of education during the DP government, but some moments are of fundamental importance.
We managed to achieve vertical growth in the PISA test. And that growth lasted until the years of what you can call anything but rebirth dominated.
As soon as the years of the DP government were exhausted, in their 8 years a black world record was set, a shameful record, a record like no other country, neither in war nor in peace, of a 69-point drop in the quality of mathematics, which is a main pillar, of a catastrophic drop to the second lowest place in the world in creative thinking.
Imagine, then, how far from its mission our education is today, if its main mission is to enable Albanians to face their future, to build their future, to build their reality.
"These are indicators, I said, that come from national organizations, but they are important. But the indicators here inside are even more catastrophic," said Berisha. (A2 Televizion)
