The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime has approved a plan of measures to guarantee the integrity of the 2025 parliamentary elections. Through this document, SPAK believes that it will prevent and investigate electoral crimes, including corruption, the use of public assets in elections and the interference of criminal groups in electoral processes. At the head of this new structure will be Altin Dumani himself and it is expected that the use of public money during the election period will also be investigated.
The Special Prosecution Office has set up a task force to investigate electoral crimes. In a press release, SPAK announces that at the head of this special group will be Altin Dumani himself, who will investigate suspicious activities until May 11.
"The field investigation teams will be composed of prosecutors, BKH investigators, financial investigators and administrative support staff, divided into 12 Regions and 61 Municipalities. They will focus on preventing and investigating criminal offenses related to the use of public administration, state infrastructure and the involvement of criminal groups in the electoral process," reads the SPAK announcement.
But Dumani will not be alone in this battle, as cooperation with a number of public institutions is foreseen, writes A2.
"The Director of the Prosecution will sign a cooperation agreement with the Prosecutor General, the Director of the State Police and the State Election Commissioner. One of the BKH investigators will be designated as the person responsible for contacting the Central Election Commission for the exchange of information and data in real time," the announcement further adds.
According to this strategy, the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution will also put government money under the scanner from now until May 11, where a working group composed of financial investigators will monitor the use of the public budget and investments during the election period: "Any violation of financial rules will be pursued with severity, ensuring that public resources are not misused for electoral purposes. Documented and evidence-based denunciations are essential to detect and prosecute any criminal act that violates the integrity of the elections."
The fight against electoral crimes must be comprehensive, and SPAK invites citizens to become part of it by setting up a reporting platform: "Information received through this platform is considered informative in nature. Meanwhile, only those that are filed with the prosecutor's office in written form and in a regular procedural form will be considered criminal reports. Prosecutors are obliged to make decisions and notify the complainant only for these criminal reports."
This strategy has been in operation for five days now, after special structures were established by SPAK on January 24, with the signature of the government. (A2 Televizion)
