The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted after the US, through its envoy, asked the Albanian authorities to fight drug cartels.
Through a statement to the media, Berisha called on President Donald Trump to declare Albanian drug cartels as terrorist organizations, writes A2 CNN.
Berisha also said that the DP will provide any evidence that, according to him, directly implicates Prime Minister Edi Rama as part of the criminal world.
Berisha also leveled accusations against the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, who he said is linked to a criminal organization in Albania.

I call on President Trump and the US government to declare these Albanian groups, which are among the most dangerous in the region, Europe, and the world, as terrorists.
Which move billions, billions, billions of euros, drug money and launder it freely, without any restrictions in Albania with the signature of the head of these cartels, the head of criminal organizations, Edi Rama.
Declaring Albania's mafia organizations as terrorist organizations is a serious, major contribution to security in Albania, to security in the region, to the security of NATO and Europe and beyond.
Therefore, I guarantee that the DP is ready to present every document, every piece of evidence that proves the direct involvement of Edi Rama, Olsi Rama, Taulant Balla, Ervin Hoxha and many others in the activities of the most dangerous cartels in the region and the world.
So, I am here before you to emphasize once again to the Albanians that yesterday marks a very important turning point for Albanians, for Albania, the region and Europe, the branding of Albanian criminal groups, organizations linked to the government and Edi Rama, as drug cartels.
All those who were hesitant or found the label of a narco-state in Albania a bit distant, even strange, should now have no more doubts.
Albania is a drug cartels' country.
Albania was and is a narco-state even before the creation of the cartels, but the creation of the cartels is the result of the official policies that Edi Rama followed from 2015 until today.
Drug cartels in Albania are also the most powerful decision-makers in the government, in parliament, and in local governments.
