Community outreach and integrity are the two main criteria in selecting the list of candidates for deputies of the Socialist Party in the May 11 elections. This was announced on Ditarin with Bruna Çifligu on A2 CNN by Deputy Minister of Interior Romina Kuko, according to whom the list for the 2025 elections will have innovations.
"For the SP, these individuals must be people who have leftist beliefs and engagement with the community, that the role of the deputy defines a certain area. We must move into an era where politics should be seen as a service and not an office. This is the first criterion. One of the requirements is; go to your communities and see how many people follow you and how much access you have in the community. Secondly, integrity is very important, the justice reform created the conditions to reform the political class, these two are the main ones. There are people who think they should be on the list, or people who think they have made a contribution, but they are a series of factors. The 2025 election list will be a list with innovations, taking into account these criteria that I mentioned and above all the integrity of the people who will be elected to represent the SP in the elections," Kuko said on A2 CNN.
Asked if the Socialist Party is using electoral offices to register immigrants in the elections, Kuko denied this, but stressed that there are groups that help people by orienting them on where to register for the diaspora vote.
"The SP in the Diaspora has structures. We have the SP of Greece, of Italy, we have organizations in Germany and contact points in Britain. We have groups that assist people to orient them on where to register for the Diaspora vote. In no way does the registration happen to be done by SP exponents. It is a capillary work and zero use of resources."
