At the end of his mandate, Fatmir Xhafaj came out to explain to the public what work he had done in 14 months at the head of the special parliamentary committee for anti-corruption, good governance and the rule of law, whose meetings were boycotted not only by the opposition, but also by internationals and justice institutions, for whom he did not spare words.

From its inception, the activity of this commission was stigmatized as an attempt to change justice laws, but justice itself was unmasked by Fatmir Xhafaj as the institutions that have requested changes up to the level of the Constitution.

"They are independent and their obligation arises from this independence. We told them to gather yourselves with a group of experts and do an analysis yourself. We did not tell them to come to us. The way it is interpreted is wrong. We did not force them nor did we interfere in their competences. We told them to do an analysis and tell us what changes you want," he said.

Out of 150 amendments, one of them was publicly articulated, related to the mandate of SPAK prosecutors, where Fatmir Xhafaj did not mince words. The socialist MP closed the parliamentary activity by removing a concern that he had been carrying since May 14.

"Our goal was not to capture SPAK or the justice institutions, but to draft documents that help integration," he stressed. "These interpretations of the super commission, which would capture justice, would capture SPAK, let me know after 14 months of work of the Commission, where is it on a page of the document and work? When you find it, let me know, because many things were said," said Xhafaj. (A2 Televizion)
