Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that the minimum wage in the country will increase from 400 euros to 500 euros.
"When we took office, the average salary in the public sector was 372 euros, today in 2024 we closed with an average salary of 1,000 euros. We have made a very high increase. I am saying that the overall average salary was 322 euros and today we have 830 euros overall," said Rama.
"What about the minimum wage? We had 157 euros, we have 400 euros. And in June we will make it 500 euros and it will come into effect from January 2026. Most businesses have a much higher minimum wage today," Rama added.
