Asked where he finds this confidence in joining the European Union, for which he is also seeking the vote of Albanians on May 11, Prime Minister Edi Rama replied that Europe is in a new situation that seeks to expand. In the Sy m'sy column, the head of government emphasized that Albania has caught up with Montenegro, which opened negotiations in 2012, and has left behind Serbia, which opened them in 2014.

"Because this is why you elected me and this is why you pay me. The reasons why I have this trust are the ones you can see. It is a new situation for Europe. Europe wants to expand and you must have heard it yourself from the mouth of the Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos who was in Albania. Europe says that by 2027 we must close the negotiations with Albania. Montenegro opened them in 2012 and we have achieved it and we are side by side. Serbia, which opened them in 2014, is behind us. The first opportunity is us. On May 11, we share this work, if there is a plebiscite vote to enter Europe, it will be much easier for us.
